Vendor Choice Pricing

One price on every tag. And a real choice for every vendor.

Dual pricing usually forces an all-or-nothing decision: put every vendor on card pricing, or let the store eat the processing fees. Vendor Choice Pricing gives each vendor the decision — and makes sure the card fee is accounted for either way.

One price on the tag

Stop printing two prices

Labels show a single price — the card price. When the customer pays cash or check, Syncrostore applies the cash discount automatically at checkout.

The cashier does not calculate anything, does not look anything up, and does not need to know which vendors participate.

One item. One tag. One displayed price.

Example

A $20.00 item

Scenario
Amount

$20.79
Pays by card
$20.79
Pays by cash or check
$20.00

The cash discount is applied by the system based on tender. Nothing is written on the tag about it.

The problem it solves

Not every vendor wants dual pricing. The store still pays the fee.

That is the trap. A vendor opts out on principle, their merchandise sells on a card, and the processing cost lands on the store. Vendor Choice removes the trap without removing the vendor’s choice.

Vendor participates

Their merchandise uses card pricing

Tags display the single card price. Customers paying cash or check automatically receive the cash discount at checkout. The card price covers the processing cost on their sales.

Vendor opts out

Their merchandise stays single-priced

Tags display the normal price and the customer pays the same amount on any tender. When their merchandise is bought with a card, the applicable card fee is charged to that vendor through their Syncrostore account — not absorbed by the store.

Work out the number

Put simply: vendors are not required to opt into dual pricing, but opting out does not shift the cost of their card transactions back to the store. A genuine choice for them, one consistent policy for you.

Your three store pricing options

Option
What it does
Percentage Pricing
Dual pricing applies to every vendor in the store. Labels show the card price, with a cash discount applied automatically at checkout.
Vendor Choice Pricing New
Each vendor chooses how card fees are handled. Participating vendors use card pricing; non-participating vendors stay single-priced and are responsible for the card fees on their card sales.
Off
Traditional single pricing with no dual-pricing adjustment.

With Vendor Choice, owners and admins manage each vendor’s participation directly from the Vendor details screen.

At the register

A mixed basket handles itself

One transaction can contain merchandise from vendors who participate and vendors who don’t. Syncrostore applies the right pricing and fee treatment to each item.

Participating vendor

The item’s card price applies when the customer pays by card. On cash, check, or gift card, the cash discount is applied automatically.

Non-participating vendor

The item’s normal price applies regardless of tender. If the customer pays by card, the applicable card fee is charged to that vendor rather than passed to the customer.

The cashier never needs to know which vendors participate, separate transactions, calculate fees, or make adjustments. Syncrostore applies the correct treatment per item.

Label printing is automatic

Standard labels, batch printing, custom sizes, Label Designer — every item prints one price, and Syncrostore picks the correct one.

The Tag Calculator

Especially useful for vendors who handwrite tags. It uses your store’s actual tax rate, card-pricing method, and card percentage — and in a Vendor Choice store, it knows whether that individual vendor is participating.

“I Know My Price”

A participating vendor enters what they want to earn on an item, and Syncrostore calculates the single card price to write on the tag — with the full breakdown of the math.

Works backward from vendor take-home
Shows the calculation, not just the answer
Opted-out vendors see “You could be earning…” instead
“I Know My Tag Price”

Sometimes a vendor wants the tag to land on a specific number — $19.99. They enter the displayed price they want and Syncrostore works backward to the underlying selling price that gets closest.

No trial and error at the tagging table
“Popular Tags”

For pricing a large batch: a table of common price points — $9.99, $19.99, $29.99, $49.99 and up — with the underlying price already worked out for each.

Preparing your store for Vendor Choice

We recommend giving vendors about 30 days before the change takes effect, since participating vendors may need time to retag merchandise already on the floor. Announce on September 1, for example, and set October 1 as the effective date.

During the transition

Explain Vendor Choice to your vendors
Give each vendor the chance to decide
Establish and communicate a firm effective date
Allow time to retag existing merchandise at the new single card price
Point vendors at the Tag Calculator for handwritten tags
Remind vendors only one price should appear after migration

A note on existing tags

Existing two-price dual pricing tags will still scan just fine — nothing breaks on day one.

Whether the printed prices remain accurate after a move to Vendor Choice depends on whether that vendor opted in. That is the reason for the retag window.

Why we built it

Store owners should not absorb card fees because a vendor said no

Vendor Choice lets you address processing costs without forcing every vendor into dual pricing — and without the store covering card fees for the ones who opt out. Each vendor decides what works for their business.

Customers

See one clear price on the merchandise, and cash customers get the discount automatically at checkout.

Vendors

Choose how their card fees are handled, and see the math either way in the Tag Calculator.

Cashiers

Don’t calculate or manage any of it. The system applies the right treatment per item.

Store owners

No longer stuck absorbing card fees because a vendor doesn’t want dual pricing.

Your tags

One price, printed automatically, whichever setting the vendor is on.

In short

Vendor choice. One price on the tag. Automatic cash discounts. Card fees accounted for either way. Syncrostore handles the rest.
